Didn't continue after receiving the automated email following online application. The email detailed the company's desire to understand my thinking process. It required a 4 part case study just to score the preliminary interview. The case study questions were not theoretical, they appeared specific to the position; had I completed it, I would have been handing the company my detailed plan for success in the role. The case study submission required that I include the mental math (calculations, spreadsheets, etc.). Not cool, especially without even a preliminary meet and greet wherein both parties can begin to assess compatibility. Had I satisfied the company with that case study, and passed the follow up initial interview, I was required to complete a second case study to meet the hiring manager. Then, having satisfied that requirement, would have met with the company's president. Goodness, I wasn't applying for a C-suite role, it shouldn't be this serious. No company should ask applicants to give up their hard-earned secrets to success, especially detailed secrets, without so much as an initial interview. No applicant should feel comfortable working for free (completing case studies) for a company that hasn't provided an opportunity to meet anyone at all and to ask questions about culture, expectations, pay, etc.
