Typical interview process: screening HR call, portfolio presentation with a team panel.
Recruiting call was positive. Steps well-coordinated, friendly conversation, shared tips and resources. Although at times, hearing back took a while.
Team panel gave me a negative experience. One interviewer was friendly and listened. The other one was totally distracted by what was happening at home and was disengaged. I didn't feel like he cared at all about the work or me as a person. I couldn't picture working with him. Everything felt scripted and procedural. I dodged a bullet.
I never heard back from them or the recruiter either. Terrible experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Typical screening questions: why uber, why want to leave, what I look for in my next role, questions about my background.
Typical portfolio questions: explain rationale, challenges, etc.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uber
Interview
Standard PD interview with multiple rounds. It's nice the recruiter offered to prep for the interviews but I do wonder if they even read your resume or emails. They scheduled our calls during crazy hours (for me). It just felt like they didn't care and that was the most negative experience.
Terrible application process and a lot of red flags of how dysfunctional this place is.
- Job portal sucks (Who designed this?) You can't upload your resume and have to fill in your information in these tiny form fields
- It's impossible to get a hold of someone (Eg. When the calendar link to set up an interview doesn't work and it was sent from an e-mail address that you can't reply to. There is also no contact information so you don't know who to reach out to resolve this issue)
- Two employees told me different things. The first one said a lot of other candidates are experiencing issues and the second one said they sent me an interview invite by mistake.
Overall, my impression so far is that uber seems very disorganized and there's a lot of miscommunication going on. It definitely feels like i dodged a bullet here.
