I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2016
Interview
First spoke with a recruiter for about 30min about the job, role, current projects. Then received an email with a link to an online homework assignment. It's timed to be finish within 1 or 2 hours. After that was a phone interview with a member of the team, asked some open-ended product question. He was mostly interested to know how I formulate a real-world problem. Got invite to onsite 2 days after that, onsite was about 4 hours and 4 or 5 sessions. It was a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Recruiter was very efficient and helpful throughout the entire process, and the team I interviewed with is very friendly.

Question 1
SQL operations, optimization of pickup time, how to evaluate the success of a new feature
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2016
Interview
Same experience as last DS interview person. I applied online and a recruiter reached out to me. He/She wasn't helpful or forthcoming with the different DS positions, even when I asked. Was asked to do an offline exercise which was very open ended, one data science-y and one programming. Could do it in any language. The DS questions itself were worded ambiguously, to begin with. Was given a week to finish and I did it and wrote a 7 page article (as they wanted a detailed analysis!) with lots of plots and scripts(just like the last guy!). I sent in my submission and got a reply almost immediately saying we are not interested! The quick reply makes me certain they didn't go through my submission. My opinion is to not waste your time and just use it to practice your DS skills.

Question 1
One question about Uber data and one easy programming question.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2015
Interview
I knew a data scientist there, so I contacted him and got the process started. I had an informational interview with him, after which there was a take home test. The test tested SQL and statistics/machine learning knowledge. I thought I did okay on statistics/machine learning, but my SQL was very rusty. After this, they did not decide to continue the process.
