Target uses situational questions. You must use the STAR - Situation, Task, Action and Result format for answers. Have at least 5 excellent "stories" that demonstrate strong leadership, accountability and exceptional results. Energy, enthusiasm and strong speaking skills are more important than actual job experience. Many new managers don't have any previous experience. You may be interviewed by a panel of people with at least 2 people present.
I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Mar 2014
Interview
The first interview was through my school. They asked you basic application questions and discussed your resume. Then asked 4 task-related questions and well as if I had any questions for them. Very quick and people were very friendly. No intimidation factor.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Washington, DC)
Interview
I initially began the process in late January. I was informed about the ETL position through mutual friends who worked for Target. First, I had a phone interview with a recruiter. After the phone interview, I was told that I would be contacted with the next few days to schedule an interview with an STL (store team leader). I was called the NEXT day and asked to come in for an interview with the STL. The interview was about 45 minutes long. I was asked about 4-5 questions which I followed the "situation, behavior, and outcome model". You MUST follow that format in order to continue on in the hiring process. Three days later I received an email requesting to schedule and interview with the DTL (district team leader). That interview was similar to the first interview. A week later a was invited to meet with the human resources group leader to interview. The entire hiring process was one month.
