Based on an internal recommendation from a current leader over their team of talent acquisition members, my contact information was passed from the endorsing manager I once worked with in another company down to a "Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition" in the Connecticut office. Anticipating a phone interview for the position, what transpired was a series of back and forth email ping pong questions and a rejection email. Only one of the three questions referred to a qualification for the position ("do you have a resume?") After that question was posed, I offered to have a conversation/discovery session by phone since the person in leadership indicated that they had an immediate need and my extensive experience was in the core area of their business. Knowing that this was a VIRTUAL position, the three oddball interview questions and canned rejection letter left me scratching my head.
