Pretty standard process: first 2 behavior questions, why PM, why MS; then a simple tech questions on data structure; then a question on schedule delay; then a product design problem
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Microsoft in Jun 2013
Interview
Pretty straight forward. first interview was via phone with HR screener. Next was via phone with hiring manager. Last was a day in the office with 6 different individuals, starting with HR, then several individuals from the department/team, then the hiring manager, and lastly the "as appropriate". Offer came via HR contact, as did all negotiations, however the hiring manager also did contact me via email.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Dublino, Dublino) in Sep 2013
Interview
Very straight forward process. Highly analytical interviews whereby Managers go through a range of standardised behaviourial and hypothetical questions based around key competencies. So in a nutshell - whatever the key attributes or competencies they are looking for plan and present your interview around that cos it is competency based interview and you have to answer your questions around behaviourial and hypothetical situations.
It can be a little boring to prepare for this type of interview and it can feel like you are faking it during the interview but if you follow the example of giving behaviourial and hypothetical solutions around competencies you'll do very well!
