Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A few logic problems asked to solve them during interview. Handed printed out mock email string and asked to read thru and asked how would you handle this situation. Expect to be grilled over SDLC, Agile methodology, sharing experience and examples of problem solving using analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Singapore) in Nov 2012
Interview
Went for a technology workshop cum coding competition to do networking. After all the application questions and online assessments, had a phone interview about a week after. Everything seemed to be going well, considering I had no knowledge of finance at all.
During the assessment center, we had 2 individual interviews and 1 group activity. The first interview went considerably well. Asked questions such as what was my motivation, how would I define innovation, what was a good leader. Mostly abstract stuff.
The second interview was what caught me off-guard. I was asked rather technical questions. Things like what new updates does the current version of Java offer, what are some of the things you do NOT do in agile. I found that rather strange because I asked my friends who were in the assessment center with me and they were not asked any technical questions at all.
The group activity was about looking at a case situation and us offering proposals on what would be a good plan of action. From what I could remember, it was something about them wanting to set up a server in another geographical location, and we needed to propose which location was ideal.
Nevertheless, I did not get the offer, which probably suggests there are people out there who were much adept in answering the interview questions or perhaps I did not exhibit myself more during the group interview.

What kind of research have you done on JP Morgan before applying?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan
Interview
2 part interview, first was behavior which is very common sense and easy. Technical for second portion, a bit hard. Depending on who you get, you have to know you're stuff or show that you know how to find the answer.

Question 1
Depending on who you get for technical, UNIX was a killer. They don't teach that in school.
