I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Geneva, Geneva) in Sep 2018
Interview
Firstly I was contacted by an HR person and briefed her on my experience as well as my motivations for this position. There were questions asking about past experience with my team and finally an expected salary.
After that I had a call with the Project Manager of the candidates position team.
He was friendly but yet not too casual. More information about the projects I was working on were asked, especially from the perspective of working in a team. Also he asked me why should I hire you? A question I was not very familiar until then.
And thirdly was the technical interview which is an automated process in which you are receiving a series of questions, answered either by recording yourself in video or by typing.
From those there was only one were you coded, many were a bit overly general like why choose javascript etc.
After completing the latter there was just radio silence and unanswered emails.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Expedia Group
Interview
Spoke with recruiters at university career fair. Got a "call-back" later that day to set up an on-campus pair white boarding interview for 8am the following morning. Later that week heard back for an online HackerRank challenge. Took them a long time to respond after this but got the offer after a phone call (just a "what are you looking for"/"this is what our program is like" phone call).
Pair whiteboard-ing:
One interviewer and 2 interviewees in a room with a whiteboard and markers. Interviewer read question and evaluated both your solution and collaboration. Was told at the start we were expected to get through about 2 problems. Found out later that my partner and I were the only ones to get through two problems. One was about the difficulty of a hacker rank medium and one was a hacker rank hard.
HackerRank technical challenge:
Usual deal. 60 min, 2 questions. One was about a HackerRank medium and one was ridiculously easy.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Seattle, WA)
Interview
Four rounds -> three technical, one behavioral. One technical round was testing and the interviewer was vague and she asked about weird test cases without considering the use cases. She wasn't willing to listen and was unreasonable. The other two interviewers were great and asked reasonable questions.
