I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Connected (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2018
Interview
Hackerrank test, followed by in person interview.
Hackerrank test was I believe 2 questions, one was finding a node in a tree, the other was ticket line. Ticket line has people standing in line. Can only by one ticket at the booth, each person has some amount of tickets they want to buy. It takes 1 second to buy a ticket and if the person has more tickets to buy they move to the back of the line. Given ticket line with n people (each wants to buy some amount of tickets) and desired person (i.e third person in line), how long till the desired person buys all their tickets?
In person interview is short behavioural followed by technical questions (I list them below).
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
What does this code do? How would you make it more efficient? Question was finding max distance between same values in a list. Inefficient code was O(n^2).
Design a database for a clothing store. What about user/password storage? Adding to cart? What about storing whether user is logged in? What about if multiple login's allowed? Clothing sizes, different kinds (S, M, L, XL) (30, 32, 34, 36 ...)
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Connected
Interview
4 interviews in total, including a phone call, and 3 in person meetings - all in the span of about 2 weeks. I was then asked for references, which I happily gave on the same day. I did not hear back from the company for a few months, despite reaching out and asking for an update. After about 3 months from the initial interview, I was sent a generic email stating that they have filled the role, but encouraged me to reapply in the future. I was excited about the role and it seemed like a great place to work, however was disappointed with the unprofessional behaviour.

Question 1
All three in person interviews asked very similar questions (can you name a challenge you experience, how do you manage your team, etc)
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Connected (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Got contacted by a recruiter.
During the first round they invited me over to their office. It was your standard interview; I was asked about my past experience, personal projects and some white board questions.
For the second round I had an awkward meeting with the CEO at a coffee shop. The thing just turned turned bizarre after I somehow ended up at their company event. There was clearly no process in place.
Few days later I got an email from the recruiter saying that the CEO thought I was lying about something. Well...OK.
Back when I interviewed, the company wreaked of that typical startup bs:
bro culture...check, buzzwords...check, underpaying by at least $10000 below market rate check, long hours...check, infantilization of engineers...check
