I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Appirio in Jul 2012
Interview
Phone screen with recruiter plus one to two interviews scheduled each week over a 6 week period in no particular order or pattern. Four of the interviews were mostly centered around convincing me how great of a place it would be to work. Two were more technical in nature and one was in person. The process seemed very unorganized and turned out to be a huge waste of time, energy, and undue stress. The decision could have been made based upon the phone screen. The interviewer's receive credits toward their yearly goal for interviewing, so they didn't seem to mind. They were also very pleasant to talk with and all seemed very good at what they do. It's obvious the company is growing extremely fast and doesn't have a standard process in place for hiring just yet. Expect your process to be different.
The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Appirio (Atlanta, GA) in Apr 2012
Interview
Was contacted by recruiter, and told them that I was in process of accepting another offer. But they were quite interested, and I moved forward letting them know my time limitations. Interviews were good, two one on one, and the field employees who interviewed me were quite thorough and very pleasant. However, after second interview, got phone call telling me to proceed on my other opportunities without any feedback whatsoever. All I can think of is that the very unprofessional recruiting contact who was supposed to get back to me was somehow affronted by my need for a quick decision - something I had told her day 1. So overall, good consultants, bad HR experience.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Appirio (Washington, DC) in Mar 2012
Interview
I thought the hiring process was quite haphazard. I first got scheduled for an interview with someone who cancelled with less than 8 hour notice. Then re-scheduled. In the meantime, another person interviewed me instead of the original guy. Utilmately ended up interviewing with 3 different people on the phone and doing a personal salesforce org building exercise. they ultimately put me on a flight to San Fran for a personal interview after atleast 3 weeks of interviews and exercises and exchanges. They originally tried to get me on a red-eye and I politely declined, since that would affect my current job. By this time, I was a little ticked off anyways. Anyways, they booked me on a better flight and off I went to SF. So I arrived a few minutes early to the "office"..which by the way was not a "big huge office" in anyway, as decribed by the recruiter. Its just a leased space with a half a floor belonging to Appirio. No receptionist or anyone for the first 15 minutes. Finally got someone to get me seated and checked in. What followed was F2F with 5 different people AND a SKYPE with a guy who was actually in SF (huh??) (talk about going to SF and doing a SKYPE with a local guy???). I thought I did great on all, except one where this gentleman tried to give me these analytical puzzles. Honestly, I have never been good at these, but at the same time, I do not think they necessarily indicate whether or not you can do a job properly. I am one of the best troubleshooters in my team, but I just don't do those puzzles well...partly because I don't dedicate time to those and don't think they are that important. Anyways..a week later, got a general e-mail saying they are done considering me and would not like to proceed further. I tried to get a more specific response from them on what went wrong...expecially after interviewing with 8 different people over a month and doing a practice exercises and all.. i thought i deserved a little more response. anyways...it's their prerogative and they should have it. End of day..my gut says they probably were not ready to even offer me what I made currently and hence did not go thru with the offer..but if that was indeed the case, they could have done themselves and me a favor and said that outright...saving everyones time, energy and money. Anyways..I got a much much better offer after these bozos..so i think whatever happens, happens for good.
