I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
It took about a month to complete 2 phone interviews. The first phone interview was conducted by a team member. The interviewer was easy going and respectful. Asked some basic behavioral questions. Was able to click. The second one with hiring manager was very uncomfortable. The questions were very scripted and didn't apply exactly to the examples I gave. Felt the interviewer was arrogant and disrespectful by rushing the interview. She was expecting me to give her answers in the way similar to what she has done at Amazon. The problems she was able to solve was mainly because she has Amazon as a platform. The company lives on innovation and automation.
Prepare big projects you have done and write down all details. The interviewer will not appreciate it if you have not implemented big automation process, etc. Regular process improvement at your previous job will not be appreciated. I do wonder how many people will make up stuff just to pass these kind of questions.
I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Portland, OR) in Apr 2019
Interview
Contacted by a recruiter about 3 weeks after I applied. Phone screened with recruiter, potential colleague, then hiring manager. All meetings started late, and the phone screen process took over a month. Brought in for a 7.5 hour interview with several people. Heard 4 days later that they loved me, but thought I'd be better in a different role in Amazon. This was after 3 months of discussion.
The recruiter connected me with a different recruiter, and after 3 more phone screens, I was brought in for a 1/2 day in person interview for a different role. That also was "not a good fit."
I was just passed to my 4th recruiter to phone screen for a 3rd role. I'm now 6 months into the process with no end in sight.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Difficult interview. Had 5 onsite interviews. Each for 45 minutes. All behavior based interview questions. Allowed to really get to know the job and what they were looking for. All in all a very good process.
