I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Lussemburgo) in Sep 2014
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter from Amazon and participated in three phone screens. After the third phone interview, I was invited to the interview loop in Luxembourg. The interview process at Amazon is long, but I thoroughly enjoyed each interview. Before my first interview, I was told that I should have studied the Amazon Leadership Principles prior to the interview (I had no idea what that meant). Fortunately I made it through the first interview without any issues, so I went to a nearby restaurant (that had wifi) and looked up the Amazon Leadership Principles. Every question from each interview was based on the Leadership Principles. Every interviewer wanted me to answer their questions with a real-life example of how I lived/reacted to that specific question. Just make sure that you have plenty of examples from your work experience to relate to their questions. The best way to prepare for the interview is to study your resume and think of as many stories or experiences that help define your resume.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
I had 2 phone screens followed by onsite interviews. I did poorly on my first phone screen but did a great job on my second technical one. The onsite interviews were long from around 9AM to 5PM. I had 6 interviews including a lunch one. One interviewer was delayed, so I had a little break in the middle. The questions were mostly behavioral. The only snag was that my recruiter didn't show up for the last interview slot, so I waited endlessly before they let me go. Overall I enjoyed talking to all of the interviewers and connected with most of then easily. The day felt more like a chat, getting to know future colleagues, rather than an inquisition.
I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2011
Interview
Contacted by HR. Completed a quick 30-min. phone screen with another Senior Product Manager, then was flown to Seattle for a day of meetings with 6 people from the business unit. Interviews felt strained, some to the extent of being almost combative. Very different than what I've come to expect. Fantastic company, but not a great fit.
