I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Herndon, VA) in Mar 2020
Interview
I was offered a phone interview, via a web link to Amazon's Chime conferencing application. Although the emails I received in advance of scheduling it suggested I review Amazon's content about their culture and what to expect during the interview process? I found it wasn't very helpful at all, as this initial interview jumped right into a solid hour of firing Apple Mac, Linux, Windows and networking questions at me.
(Their information online emphasized that they like the "STAR" method of phrasing responses to their interview questions and implied it would primarily be your standard issue questions like "Tell me about a time when..." or "Where do you expect to be in X number of years..." I got a few of those, but primarily tech questions.)
I was told they'd get back with me in 48 hours or so to let me know something. But today, all I received was a very generic looking email inviting me to sign up to spend an entire day doing online interviews with them, with 4-7 people, and suggesting they could take about an hour each.
Seriously -- if this is how they do the "second interview" for candidates? I'm quite unimpressed, and tempted to take a pass on it. I know right now the market is really tough, with the Coronavirus shutting so many things down temporarily. But blocking out a day for what feels like a form letter email and no feedback if they liked my initial interview responses or not? Not cool, Amazon....
