Amazon Engineer interview questions

The overall process was not pleasant. The whole interview process took almost 4 months. First role I interviewed for was filled while waiting for my next interview. Luckily recruiter found another good fit. The interview process is too long and the questions were wordy to the point where I felt like I could not follow the STAR method when answering the question. The questions asked were repetitive, although sound different, it was the same question asked and the answer I provided to the question prior would have been the same answer for the current question. I have a lot of examples to provide for my experience but, the questions asked were for certain situations that were repetitive and did not represent exactly what I could offer. Each group asked up to 5 questions along with the follow up questions, I could not find the time to ask my questions to determine culture fit, I wanted to interview with the direct team members. Discuss the role with the internal customers that the role would serve. I couldn't really identify the culture and the growth opportunity in the role. I enjoyed talking to the hiring manager however, I wish I had talked to him sooner rather than the one time during the 6 hour interview. I had follow up questions about the role after talking to the other members. Ultimately, I am relieved that I was not presented with an offer since it seemed like it wasn't a good fit from the background I was receiving. I believe I was overqualified and felt at peace with the end decision.
