This role is offered on an Italian employment contract. Candidates must be based in Italy as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation.
This role sits within the Vesper team at Deltatre — the platform responsible for delivering VOD and live events to users at global scale. You will work across Java services, event-driven processes, RESTful APIs, and the AWS infrastructure that underpins our streaming platform.
We are hiring at two levels. Both roles require someone who takes ownership, thinks carefully about system design, and is committed to engineering problems that genuinely matter at scale. The distinction lies in depth of experience, degree of independence, and scope of contribution.
Senior Java Backend Software Engineer
For engineers with deep production experience who are ready to influence how the platform evolves.
As a Senior Java Backend Software Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of complex features and system components. You will contribute actively to system and API design, participate in architecture discussions with well-formed opinions, and help raise engineering standards through code review and technical mentorship.

For engineers with solid foundations who are ready to take on meaningful ownership and deepen their craft.
As a Mid-Level Java Backend Software Engineer, you will take ownership of features and components within the Vesper platform, working with increasing independence on well-scoped problems. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and contribute to a team culture where quality and continuous improvement matter.

Process and what to expect
Salary starts from of €30,000 at entry level rising to €90,000 for those with significant relevant experience. Where you land depends on your experience, technical background, and the stack you bring. If your expectations sit outside the range, tell us anyway —we're happy to have an open conversation. Internal progression is assessed through a structured process combining a technical assessment and a competency-based interview. The role falls under CCNL Commercio| D.Lgs. 96/2026
